I came back from New York. It was huge, I really liked it. Walking through all these different neighborhoods was great, Greenwich Village was one of my favorite, but SoHo and Chelsea were also lovely. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll come back another time in the next few years, but this time in spring, it was freezing!

Lot of things happened between that, I’m starting marketing courses at the SAWI, 2 evenings a week + 2 Saturdays a month. I’m really excited to be back to school and learn all the basics of marketing and communication. I’m doing these courses (only 4 month) to have a paper called MarKom and this paper will allow me to take another course which will allow me to have a higher degree in marketing. All of these courses are in the evening or during weekends, so I needed to find a job close to Lausanne or at 80%, that’s why I quit my job at the end of January and that I’m currently looking for new opportunities in the marketing field. I’d love to manage creative campaigns in the future, but as a junior in marketing, it’s always hard to find « the dream job ». I already have a few interviews in the next weeks, so we’ll see how it goes. I ordered a GoPro HD HERO 2 a week ago, I think I’ll get it tomorrow at home, I can’t wait to try this. I’ll use it while snowboarding, but also during road trips, travels and personal video projects, FYI I’ll upload everything on my Vimeo channel. I also decided to do bungee jumping as soon as the weather is nice enough, but also book myself a parachute jump just after that. I can’t wait to finally try this! I’ll obviously use the GoPro for both of these activities.

I just started working on a new web project related to the beautiful country I’m living in, Switzerland. More information coming soon, I need to get back my coding skills first.

Once again, Anonymous fight for the freedom of the Internet. The FBI just took down Megaupload, one of the biggest file sharing website in the world. With the actual SOPA/PIPA debate going on for a few weeks, this was just not acceptable. the group launched a denial of service attack on the Department of Justice website, rendering it unusable for the last hour, but that’s just the beginning. Anonymous are already planning attacks on personal accounts and other websites.

Thanks to all the anons in the world, official websites are going down one after the other.

Since 2005, YouTube and other social video sites have given people the ability to express themselves in a whole new way – vlogging. People can just sit down in front of their camera and talk to share their opinion about different topics. A dozen of vloggers are now very famous online, because of their daily/weekly shows on Youtube. One of their first interest was the freedom of sharing their thoughts to the world in a whole new way, but since a few years, with the Youtube’s advertising program, vlogging is now their everyday’s job. Yes, you can earn money for just talking to a camera about whatever you want, isn’t it great?

With new great mobile apps launching every day, most of them with local and social features, european are facing a problem that’s hard to stop: location. The majority of the startups are launching their app to gain early adopters, so they obviously aim California or New York users. While they grow their community in the USA, we, european, will try their apps and obviously delete them after a few weeks because no one around us is using it. Should the startups concentrate more of their marketing efforts in Europe? Maybe, I feel like americans are slowly starting to believe in a possibility to scale in Europe, but it’s not there yet and they’re right to be afraid of launching apps in Europe; the startup spirit is not as high as in America, but again, it’s starting slowly. With big web events in London, Berlin or Paris and apps like Deezer, SoundCloud, Huddle, Wooga and a lot of others in 2010/2011, we’re in the right way.

Here is 3 apps that I’d love to use here with my friends and family, unfortunately there isn’t enough users to enjoy them:

Path

Path was designed as a mobile service that lets you share what’s important in your life with only your closest friends. It’s not a wide-open social network like Facebook, nor a broadcast platform like Twitter. It’s designed to keep you in touch with your family and your close friends only. Their new user interface makes the experience amazing, you now have a feature called « Automatic » that will post where you are automatically. If you hang out in a new neighborhood, or you’re driving and stop in a city you’ve never been to, Path will create a location update. Very useful, and remember this is not public. Users have an option to keep the moment to themselves (private to them) or share with their Path friends. Path also makes it easy to post to other social networks, if users want to. You can also post when you’re going to sleep or when you wake up. Sleep for two hours and it might say you, « need coffee. » Snooze for ten and it could say, « Ready to attack the day! ». You need to try it!

Foodspotting is an angel-funded startup that enables people to stumble upon good things in the world around them. The Foodspotting website and mobile apps make it easy to find and share food recommendations. It’s a simple but useful idea to find nice things to eat and new places to go. Browse photos of nearby dishes and see what looks good. It makes finding good food as easy as looking in a bakery window. I’ve seen a few public recommandations for Lausanne and Geneva, but I’d love to have recommandations from friends too!

Localmind allows you to send a question to any place in the world, and get an answer from someone at. I think the entire world need an app like this, we just need one only app used by everyone. How many times did you ask yourself: « I wonder how many people are at this pub right now? » Well, this could be your answer. I really like Localmind because it’s easy to use, but it’s still a very new app and more new features should be coming. We’re waiting for it guys!

Speaking of places we dream about, I’ve always had a little list of cities or countries that I want to visit. I’ve already seen some great and beautiful countries, but there is still a lot to discover. Here is a few place that I want to go. I hope it’ll give you a few ideas too.

I’ll post more of these beautiful places in the future, but until then I’m going to North Italy in January and as I said New York City just after (10.01.11). It should be an exciting winter!

I’ll be turning 22 the next month, to break the routine and make my life a little more exciting, I decided to try 22 things in ONE year that I’ve never done before or that I really want or need to do.  Some of them might be easy, it’s just things that I always thought it’d be cool to do. By making that list, I asked myself a lot of questions about what I really want to do in my life, what are my true passions, what can I change, what I don’t want to change and so on. That made this little experiment very interesting and I even learned more about myself.

1. Go to a hairdresser and let them do whatever they want
2. Learn how to slap perfectly
3. Take a picture of my face, every day, for a year
4. Bungee Jumping or Free fall
5. Career specialization (studies, special courses, etc.)
6. Try 10 foods I’ve never tried
7. Play live (again) with my band
8. Try absinthe
9. Learn to juggle with three balls
10. Try 20 beers I’ve never tried
11. Write an article for a well known blog
12. Travel to a country I’ve never been before
13. Give to charity
14. Find Jesus Christ’s body
15. Spread a buzz around a web/video project of mine
16. Save more money (poke @CBDStudios)
17. Pass the Advanced/TOEFL exam
18. Take up a new sport: Wakeboard ? Golf ?
19. Read books on subjects I’d never have thought of reading
20. Make homemade marshmallows
21. Attend 3 (minimum) festivals this summer, bonus point if abroad (Belfort?Reading Festival?,…)
22. Continue this blog and not let him die

Here it is, one thing is sure, I want change in my life, always. How about you try that yourself? It’s always easier to achieve our goals if they’re written somewhere or if you talk to someone about them. Just try it, it’s free and very cool. Some of my friends did it and it was funny and interesting to see the different expectations. I might do this every year, or maybe a list for the next 10 years, something like that.

For a first time in Münich, it was doing pretty well. We went to our hotel to check-in and headed straight to the Theresienwiese, where all the magic happen. It’s a huge place where thousand of german and tourists do the exact same things: eat, drink beer, get drunk and party. Doesn’t it sound like heaven? Well it is. The beers are fucking good, you eat a lot and you can’t just drink water and go away at 6pm, you party hard. Sunday we went in the HB tent (the best, picture below) and we drank beer from 9am to 2am again, the atmosphere was perfect, great traditional german music and lot of great people. I’m clearly going again in 2012.

With San Francisco and Münich in a month, I’m good to get back to work for a while, but I’m already thinking on my next trip… Asia? South America? Who knows! Meanwhile we’ll maybe travel with my friends for New Year’s eve, so life is good. I’m happy.

For my last entire day in San Francisco, I went shopping one last time in Union Square and then I met Jonas at the Embarcadero to go to the Baseball game. I already went to the AT&T park a few days before so I was expecting something big for the game and I wasn’t disappointed. The stadium was full, we had awesome seats with a great view, mexican dodgers fans left after 30 minutes and there was a great atmosphere! Unfortunately the beer was at 10$ and the Giants lost. But heh, it’s was great anyway, will definitely go again. Go Giants!

The next day I had my flight at around 7pm, so I had time to leave my great Airbnb host, hop on a shuttle and spend some time in the airport. Oh and also buy postcards (completely forgot during my stay). Again, SWISS Airlines were awesome.

Sooooo, now I’m back, I went back to work with 3 hours of sleep (thx jetlag) but it wasn’t that bad. In 2 days I’m already leaving in another country: Germany. It may not be as far as USA, but for the Oktober Fest, it doesn’t matter! Yeah you read that correctly, I’m going to the Oktober Festtttttt! I’m really excited, German beer here I come.
